How can I add forgotten ingredients after the dough is already mixed?

by MARIA

Q.I HAD READY MIXED ALL THE INGREDIENTS AND WHEN I BAKED THE COOKIES THEY CAME OUT FLAT. I REALIZED THAT I FORGET TO ADD 1 MORE CUP OF FLOUR TO AN ALREADY MIXED DOUBLE BATCH OF DOUGH. SO, MY QUESTION IS: CAN I GO BACK AND ADD THE REMAINING CUP OF FLOUR?

A.There is nothing more aggravating to me than missed ingredients. The good news in your case is that flour is probably one of the easiest ingredients to quickly add more of with little to zero damage done to the dough.

Since you have already baked a batch of the mixed dough, you may not want to add the WHOLE cup of missed flour. Maybe start with adding another 1/2 cup, and check dough for proper consistency.

Some ingredients are harder to add than others. Salt is an ingredient that should be added at the right time. If you try to add it at the end , it does not blend properly and you will end up with concentrated pockets of salt in your cookies.
